Police blotter: Man suspected of child abuse since February 2007

A 45-year-old Hollister man was arrested Monday on suspicion of child abuse after police say he hit his 6-year-old son in the face and arm and "threw him across the room."
According to Hollister Police spokeswoman Rosie Betanio, the child received bruises and scratches from the incident but was not treated by emergency medical crews.
Betanio also said the man is suspected of abusing the boy since February 2007. The man was booked into San Benito County Jail.
Burglaries
A burglary was reported Monday in the 500 block of Line Street. According to police, an unknown suspect smashed a bedroom window of a residence, entered and stole $500 worth of rings. Police have no suspects.
A burglary was reported Monday in the 800 block of B Street. A 20-inch flat-screen television was reported stolen. A police report from the incident had not been completed today, and further information was unavailable.
