City council members this week discussed a budget draft update, which included agreement to contribute $50,000 to local nonprofit groups.
When it comes time for approval, the Hollister budget again is set to include $50,000 for the various nonprofits that appealed to officials for funds at this week's special meeting.
The funds will not be authorized for transfer until October, so city officials can see what happens with the state budget.
City Manager Clint Quilter said some of the nonprofit groups include the Hollister Youth Alliance, the Emmaus House, the senior ombudsman program and the suicide prevention service. Funds for each group will not be divvied up evenly but given in an amount close to what each requested from the city.
The next city council meeting is scheduled for Monday at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 375 Sixth St.
